A 600 Acre Treasure in Our Midst
This special public garden and center for education and plant identification is open for your enjoyment almost every day. Its impact reaches far beyond the land devoted to research activities and habitat preservation. From humble beginnings in the 1950s, it has become a diverse organization offering exciting opportunities for both community and personal enrichment.
The 2014 CHGC Garden Tour highlights the development of the new Wonder Garden. The first phases, “Play and Learn”, “Bird Place”, and “Nursery Garden”, are being installed this fall. These interactive spaces will eventually serve infants through middle schoolers, their parents and teachers with enticing, informative, hands-on activities designed in cooperation with the Natural Learning Initiative at North Carolina State University and NCBG garden staff. Cultivating future generations of gardeners is a goal the Chapel Hill Garden Club shares with the NCBG.
The North Carolina Botanical Garden is part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the main beneficiary of tour proceeds. The Chapel Hill Garden Club proudly celebrates our continued partnership with this local treasure.
