Committees
AWARDS
As a member of the NC State Garden Club, we may submit our accomplishments for various awards. A book of evidence containing the project information as outlined by the State is compiled and submitted.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Provides opportunities for club members to fulfill various needs in the community when approved by the Board of Directors, such as garden maintenance of the Ronald McDonald and the Horace Williams House or the Habitat for Humanity project.
FIELD TRIPS
Organizes trips to places of interest. This could includ bus trips or car pools.
GARDEN TOUR COMMITTEE
Plans and organizes the garden tour that takes place every other year on even years.
HOSPITALITY
Organizes three major events for club members: the Fall Coffee, the Holiday Tea, and the Spring Picnic/Auction. Each event has a separate committee for refreshments, decorations, etc.
LEARNING CIRCLES
Consists of small groups of people who meet to explore various topics, often at a place or garden of interest to the group.
MEMBERSHIP
Provides services to new and potential members, such as information about the club, applications, yearbooks, and newsletters.
NEWSLETTER
Provides an opportunity to write short articles of interest to our members about gardening, etc. There are five issues a year.
PROGRAMS
Plans programs of interest for the monthly meeting.
PUBLICITY
Contacts local newspapers or other media to highlight our club's various contributions to the community.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Usually one-time commitments to a project, such as selling state calendars at meetings or working on the biennial Spring Garden Tour or annual auction.
WORKSHOPS
Workshops on floral design, horticulture, etc., are planned and setup at various times during the club year. This committee is under the direction of the Horticulture and Floral Design Chairs.
